Invisalign offers our patients a great alternative to braces. When was the last time you looked at your smile and noticed areas you wished you could change? Invisalign is the perfect option to begin your mini smile makeover or a full mouth transformation. Here are answers to some commonly asked questions:
Q: What is Invisalign? A: The clear thermoplastic aligners are virtually undetectable! This means you can smile, speak and laugh without anyone noticing your teeth are undergoing Invisalign treatment. Approximately every two weeks you will begin wearing a new series of aligners. Gradually and gently your teeth will shift into your brand-new smile!
Q: Can my crowded smile be unhealthy? A: As time has passed, it’s become clear that straightening teeth is no longer solely for cosmetic purposes. This is why most dental insurance plans offer orthodontic coverage. The crowded teeth not only may make it feel uncomfortable to smile but also could be contributing to significant dental issues. Those with crowded smiles are at a higher risk for tooth decay, gum disease and other potential dental issues. Overbites, under-bites and crooked teeth impact jaw positioning and create further issues for patients. (Chewing issues, headaches, chronic earaches…just to name a few.)
Q: What about metal braces? A: At this point, if you are experiencing issues with your bite or want straighter teeth – you have two choices – Traditional Metal Braces or Invisalign Clear Aligners. For starters, the major difference between traditional braces and Invisalign is the material. Invisalign is a process of wearing thermoplastic clear aligners and switching them out every two weeks until the desired goal is achieved. For best results, the trays must be worn 22 hours a day, but when a special occasion comes up – no worries! Also, eating is more comfortable because the aligners are removed during this time. While undergoing any type of orthodontic treatment, any specialist will tell you that brushing and flossing are the key to a healthy smile, even without braces – but much more important during treatment to prevent oral issues from developing like decay or gum disease. With traditional braces, good oral hygiene may be difficult; however, Invisalign makes the oral hygiene process a breeze! Oh yeah, did we mention that Invisalign does not have any metal wires or brackets to cause irritation to your mouth? As an added bonus, since your office visits are for obtaining new aligners, there are no rubber bands, metal wires or adjustments! Not only does this lead to less oral discomfort but it saves you time with less dental appointments! Invisalign Removable Braces Waxahachie, TX
Q: How long will I have to undergo treatment? A: On average a case takes about 12 months for adults. The aligners must be worn 22 hours a day for optimum effectiveness and limit removal to eating, brushing and flossing.
Q: How much does it cost? A: Invisalign removable braces are comparable to traditional braces. Any of our competent doctors, Dr. Clinton, Dr. Hawkins or Dr. Acosta, will be happy to help determine the specifics of your treatment plan. If you have dental insurance, it may cover your orthodontic financial needs, even into adulthood.
Q: What about monthly payments? A: Our office provides flexible payment options through CareCredit. This includes up to 12 months at 0% interest and up to 60 months with a low fixed interest rate. One of our financial coordinators would be happy to assist with matching your treatment goals to a convenient financial payment option. Please ask!
